Go Green... with your kids summer clothes

Everyone is trying to save MONEY!! Everyone is trying to go GREEN!! Buying summer clothes for your kids at a second hand shop isn't a new idea, but it saving money and going green at the same time. Recycling doesn't have to only be about your cans and newspaper. While living out of the country I learned that recycling or going green was also about using the things you have on hand such as; fruit in season and local products. This cuts down on the gas driving out of season strawberries to where you live or the wood used build a deck. This was a new idea for me! I had never thought about it before!

Sarah clothes I bought from Once Upon a Child. I found almost new clothes and name brands. Not pictured above, I also bought her 3 more dresses, 5 skirts 2 outfits and 4 pairs of shorts, and Joshua 2 outfits (I spent around $100). For Joshua, I asked friends who had little boys for their hand-me-downs. People were happy to give me their clothes. I received 5 trash bags full of 3T, 4T, & 5T sizes of clothes for him and they were FREE! Not only did this save a ton of money, we were also saving those clothes from ending up in a dump some where down the road.

Daddy comes for a visit...

Jason is in Miami for a semester and came home for a quick trip home. Unfortunately, I had to work, but he got a lot of quality time with the kidos! He took them to a Monster Truck show on Saturday night, I joined them after work. It was our first one, it was loud! We had a great time. We were sad to see him go on Monday morning, but we know he'll be home next month.

 

A Matching Set

Yesterday was my first shift at work off orientation. Alicia, my sister-in-law, and I are both working weekends in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). My brother calls Alicia around 10 am telling her that Anna (4 1/2 years) was hit with a block by Tyler (2 years) and they are in the ER. It's a small cut under her left eye, but needs to be treated.

Okay, So Alicia is going to run down and check on them. About 5 minutes later I get a phone call from the hospital day care. Sarah fell off the teeter totter and buster her chin.

By the way, Sarah and Joshua's first day at day care! They need me to come and look and she probably needs to be see in the ER. When Alicia gets back from checking on Anna, I run to the day care and take Sarah to the ER. Both girls get derma-bond (skin glue) and a steri strip (tape). They were seen within an hour of each other. Crazy story right? Well, while we were in the ER, Sarah says "Look Mommy, there is Emma". Emma is Ann'a favorite baby doll. There was a doll behind the counter at the ER, but I just thought it was the hospital's doll (it's a pediatric ER and it was kid friendly). Around 5pm my brother calls Alicia and tells her that he has lost Emma!! I told her that Sarah found Emma, she is in the ER!!!! So, Alicia runs down and saves Emma. It was a big day all around.

Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh, NC

My sister-in-law, Alicia, and her 3 kids (Anna, Tyler, & Parker) joined me and mine for a day trip to the Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh, NC. It took about an hour to get there and we all piled in her car! It was a blast!!


Sarah got to pet an alligator, ginny pig, a hissing roach, and her and Joshua both got to touch a turtle. The kids loved it. Joshua love the dinosaurs (I'll have to get those pics from Alicia) and the turtles. We ate in the cafe, but next time I think we'll bring our lunches. The best part was that it was free. I can't wait to go back

My Little Thinker

My first born. My thinker. Her teachers call her serious, but I don't see that part of her. They say she helps her classmates and participates, she is eager to learn and helpful. One day at school, back in Dominica, her teacher wanted to talk with me. She wouldn't follow directions?? They were working on writing lower case g's. She wouldn't do it! So, I asked her why and she said that she had to practice first, she didn't want the first time to be in class when she haven't even tried before. Who is this child? Certainly not mine! I would have scribbled something down and never thought about it again!

Trip to TN

Sarah & Joshua got to see some leftover snow and they were so excited! LOL

I call my grandpa, Pap Pap. My kids call my dad, Pap Pap.

So, they call my Pap Pap, Old Pap Pap! Cute right?

Anyway, this is the first time Old Pap Pap & Granny got to meet Joshua and they haven't seenSarah since before we left for Dominica.

Joshua and Old Pap Pap had an instant connection. Joshua doesn't like everyone and he takes

a while to warm up to people, but he ran in the door at their house and ran straight

to him (like he knew he would be there). They played the whole time we were there.

Sarah and Joshua (and I) shared a room, they did great! I was so proud of them.

We visited my Grandparents church.
